Hi CT. Many years ago I had a cat names Stephanie and her 4 adult

daughters. We lived on a small ranch and they lived outside and in the

garage and in the barn. Then we (husband, 3 kids, 1 dog, 5 cats) moved

to a 700 sq ft aptmt in another state and I decided to toilet train

them. They all quickly learned to urinate in the toilet, but all 5

chose to defacate in the bathtub, right over the drain. I thought that

was a pretty good (easy to clean) compromise, so I accepted it (Well, a

couple of times I caught one of them in the act and rushed her to the

toilet, where she finished pooping with no trouble. And once one of

them inexplicably just chose to poop in the toilet.) The book I had

read, How To Toilet Train Your Cat, said nothing about any difference

between training a cat to urinate or defecate, so I thought my 5-cats

family had a genetic quirk.

Now all but one of those cats is dead and we have a new, 1 yr old cat

who is in no way related to the quintet. She also has learned to

urinate in the toilet, but she defecates on the floor. I may just go

looking for a frog! --Ann
