To: CT i just read your site and first of all, that ridiculous, stupid plastic form thing from the pet store to toilet train your cat is called Kitty Whiz. i just purchased one last friday and have been desperately trying to toilet train Gio, my 5 1/2 month old abyssinian male. basically, i totally agree with you -it sucks. it bends, it rips, i too had to cut it to have it fit my toilet, litter is all over, and right now my bathroom is DISGUSTING!! i'm so frustrated right now. basically, i could deal with cleaning the litter box (of course i don't LOVE it) but the problem is that i live in a small studio apt, and the litter box goes in this little hall btwn my closet and bathroom, and in short, Gio began tracking litter EVERYWHERE, (thru no fault of his own) and it began sticking to the floor, he was getting litter in my bed, etc, etc. GROSS stuff! so i decided to potty train him with this stupid kitty whiz crap. first, putting it on the toilet and filling it with litter was no problem at all. the instructions said to lock the cat overnight to get him to go but with Gio, he went within 1 hr from me coming home from the pet store with it. anyway, he was so fine with it and with no problems at all, that i cut the white part out the next day--still no problems. anyway, to make a long story short-yesterday i cut out the first circle. and i don't think gio has gone since. i feel terrible. i tried to help him and he just gets interested in watching the litter fall into the water (b/c when he steps on the stupid plastic, all the litter falls in) and dips his paw in. i think when he sees that clump of litter that has fallen in, he thinks that's where he needs to go. he sticks his head in (the hole, but not the water) and paws around. then he jumps to the floor and circles the base of the toilet looking for that litter, looking for where that hole leads to. i think he's really gotta go and i feel so bad. but i'm just trying to hold out and not take that litter box out. i like your cardboard idea, and i will try it, but first i have a few ideas of my own. (involves aluminum foil) exciting stuff! =P anyway, i didn't mean for this letter to be so long. but i really liked ur story and i'm hoping that this will all end well. -dawn |
